The fifth season of Supernatural, an American dark fantasy television series created by Eric Kripke, premiered September 10, 2009, and concluded on May 13, 2010, on The CW. Season five regular cast members include Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins, who was promoted to series regular this season. After the conclusion of this season, series creator Eric Kripke stepped down as showrunner.[1] The fifth season was released on DVD and Blu-ray in region 1 on September 7, 2010.[2] The season follows Sam and Dean as they set out to take down Lucifer, whom Sam had inadvertently released from Hell at the end of the previous season.[3]
Mark Pellegrino plays the role of Lucifer. Paris Hilton guest stars in the episode \"Fallen Idols\", in which she plays Leshi, a god that takes the form of various well-known faces including herself.[4] The season also features the return of Jo and her mother Ellen Harvelle, as well as hunter Rufus Turner, the Trickster and the prophet Chuck Shurley.
In this table, the number in the first column refers to the episode's number within the entire series, whereas the number in the second column indicates the episode's number within that particular season. \"U.S. viewers in millions\" refers to how many Americans who watched the episode live or on the day of broadcast.
The fifth season received critical acclaim, and is widely regarded as one of the show's best seasons.[27][28][29][30] The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported a 90% approval rating for Supernatural's fifth season, with an average rating of 7.83/10 based on 10 reviews. The critics consensus reads, \"Supernatural continues to benefit from its charismatic leads and a solid script, creating a story that is almost supernaturally addictive.\"[31]
Mark Pellegrino kills it as Lucifer. He plays the devil perfectly, almost appearing sympathetic in times, to convince us that his intentions are pure. He flips the switch instantly to be the controlling type, manipulating the four horsemen who are close to an even better addition to the mix this season.

Kripke ran the Supernatural writers' room for the first five seasons before passing the baton to Gamble, who was showrunner for seasons 6 and 7. And now, years after their time on the hit CW series, which has yet to air its final episodes, Gamble and Kripke are looking back on their time with the Winchester brothers.
Gamble kicked off the conversation by asking how Kripke made the decision that season 5 would be his last with the sci-fi drama. \"People don't quite understand what 22 episodes are like,\" Kripke says, explaining how much work goes into those very long seasons. \"When people really connect to the show, if they understood the absolute f--king chaos that was happening to bring them something that they love, I think they'd be horrified,\" he added with a laugh.
But leaving Supernatural wasn't just about workload or exhaustion for Kripke. As he puts it, \"The creative never suffered through the first four years. And I'm not saying it suffered in season 5 but for the first time, I felt weirdly sloppier than I was in the past. That scared me. I felt a real responsibility for it to be as great as I could make it for as long as I could make it ... My main primary goal in the room [in season 5] was to get through the break because I had 22 [episodes] to do. Once that became one of my motivations, that really scared me.\"
A Side by Side Sawed Off Shotgun is used by the brothers on several occasions, most commonly by Dean (Jensen Ackles). It is often used with rock salt shells, which are depicted as being effective against some supernatural beings such as ghosts and demons.

An unidentified shotgun with a heat-shield, full length magazine tube and a pump with an integrated flashlight can be seen in the weapons compartment in the trunk of the Impala. It is not the Remington 870 seen in previous season as noted by its heat-shield and shorter barrel/magazine tube.
Ackles and Jared Padalecki were on a panel for the Television Critics Association this summer. During the panel, Ackles revealed how Supernatural creator Eric Kripke planned to end it in season 5. Padalecki had even lower expectations for how long Supernatural would last. Supernatural airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. on The Cw.
The theory is yes, because of the way he disappears at the end of season 5 (in Swan Song) and also because of his appearance in Fan Fiction (season 10). But to this day, none of the actors or other crew members have actually confirmed that theory although we've heard a few of them joke about it.
But over the past 14 years, things were bound to slip through the cracks. Some storylines and characters were introduced only to get left behind without proper closure. These loose threads have long been debated by the massive, global Supernatural fan base as season after season goes by without mentioning or returning to these forgotten people, places and issues. 59ce067264
